Great rainforest walks.

For the keen and fit try climbing Mt Warning. An 8.8 km steep (approx 1000 metres) round trip . The last part includes a steep climb using the assistance of a chain to reach the fabulous 360 degree view. Well worth the effort.

For the less adventurous you can wander through the 500 metre Lyrebird Walk to view some of the spectacular local rainforest. Start at the base of the Mt Warning Walk car park.

Mt Warning

Mt Warning is the remnant of a large volcano. The central core can be viewed from most of the Tweed Valley and Murwillumbah. Many adventurous climbers begin the walk in the dark to view the magnificent sunrise. Mt Warning is said to be the first place the sun touches on the eastern seaboard of Australia’s mainland.
